Native Texan, Susan Temple Neumann, finds inspiration in the spirit of the West, the landscape, its history and the people. A life-long fascination with native Americans, cowboys, horses, wildlife and the Western landscape fuel the passion she has for painting her western art.
Susan’s oil paintings are a more painterly style of realism which helps to keep the subject matter fresh and “alive.” Her goal is to capture the emotions or mood of a particular scene or character and hopefully make that connection with the viewer. Whatever the subject matter her desire is to invite the viewer in and make them a part of the scene.
Susan was honored to have her work recently featured in a six-page spread in the 2021 July/August issue of Art of the West magazine. It told the story of living her dream by painting fully time and following her passion of capturing the west and southwest in her art. Neumann’s work has received many awards over the years along with the Best of Show for Associates at the national Women Artists of the West show in 2019. Susan received Best of Show in the 2018 American Plain’s Artists exhibition and finished in the top three in 2019 and 2020. She is a signature member of the American Women Artists and is represented by Illume Gallery of Fine Art in St. George, UT.
